Mayoral candidate Sakku resigns from BNP

Former Comilla mayor Monirul Haque Sakku and Nizam Uddin Kaysar have resigned from the BNP in order to contest the upcoming city corporation polls.

In a press conference, Sakku’s personal assistant, Kabir Hassan Majumder, confirmed the matter on Thursday evening (May 19).

On the other hand, another candidate Mohammad Nizam Uddin Kaysar resigned from BNP’s Co-Organizing Secretary of Comilla Division this noon.

Earlier in the day, the election commission cleared both Sakku and Kaisar to contest the mayoral polls after scrutinizing their nominations.

The Comilla City Corporation polls are scheduled to hold on June 15.
