Over 500 vehicles waiting at Paturia ferry ghat

Over 500 vehicles are waiting in queues at Paturia ferry ghat to cross the Padma river.
People using Paturia-Daulatdia ferry route are facing serious trouble triggered by tailbacks on the roads to the ferry terminals.
During visit, the scenario was seen at 11.00am on Friday.
Manager (Commerce) of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC)’s Aricha office Md Salam Hossain confirmed the news.
Abdus Sattar, AGM of BIWTC in Paturia ferry ghat, said number of vehicles has increased at the ferry ghats. But the ferry service has slowed down due to heavy current in the river.
As a result, hundreds of vehicles including bus and trucks are waiting at Daulatdia and Paturia ferry terminals, he said.
About 18 ferries are being operated to carry vehicles through this Paturia-Daulatdia river route, he added.
