Sitakunda depot fire under control after 22 hrs

The deadly fire broke out at BM Container Depot at Sitakunda in Chattogram has finally come under control after 22 hours.
The firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control around 6:00pm on Sunday (June 5).
Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shahadat Hossain confirmed the matter to risingbd.
He said, “The massive fire was brought under control after 22 hours of frantic efforts of firefighters. Now they are working to put out the blaze completely.”
The UNO said, “Fire service men are now opening the containers and checking out them. It is being monitored to examine if there is a resumption of engulfing fire from the containers.”
He said, “A total of 25 units of the fire service and one company of the Bangladesh Army have jointly struggled to control the fire.”
Mentionable, a massive fire broke out at BM Container Depot in Sitakunda around 9:00 pm on Saturday (June 4). The fire spread around quickly, resulting dozens casualties. At least 49 deaths were reported till the report was filed.
