Army deployed to rescue flood victims

The government has deployed army personnel in Sylhet and Sunamganj to speed up flood rescue and relief efforts.
Sources said, roads and houses went under water collapsing communication system. Mobile network is not working in most of the areas there due to lack of electricity supply.
Major General Hamidul Haque, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Sylhet Cantonment said, the flood situation in Sylhet and Sunamganj has worsened. Nine units of army are working to rescue flood victims.
To speedup the rescue operations, more rescue-boats are being taken from Dhaka and Cumilla, he added.
