Dhaka’s rail link with North Bengal snapped

The railway communications between Dhaka and northern part of the country has been suspended following the derailment of a train near Tilokpur rail station in Joypurhat early Saturday.

According to sources, four bogies of Dhaka-bound Ekota Express derailed around 5.00am.

Dhaka-bound ‘Nilsagar Express’, Panchagarh-bound ‘Drutojan Express’ and Chilahati-bound ‘Simanto Express’ have been stranded at Akkelpur and Santahar railway stations since the derailment.

Akkelpur Station Master Tofazzel Hossain confirmed the news.

We are trying to recover the bogies but it will take time to re-launch the line, he said.
