Eight members of kidnapping gang arrested in Savar

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested eight members including four female of a kidnapping gang after conducting a drive at Baipail area of Ashulia in Savar, the outskirts of the capital Dhaka.
Company Commander Lt Commander Rakib Mahmud Khan of RAB-4 (CPC-2) confirmed the matter on Sunday (August 21) evening.
The arrestees were known as Hasnara, 24, Anajna Bhuiyan, 45, Motiur Rahman, 28, Nazmul Huda, 15, Sardar Nazrul Islam, 28, Sabbir Mia, 19, Jannat, 22, and Jamila Nusrat, 18.
Lt Col Rakib Mahmud Khan said, “A victim Shah Poran, 42, filed a complaint that he was held by some miscreants who captured offensive video and threatened to spread on social media, demanding Tk 3 lakh ransom. After the complaint, a team of RAB went to the spot and found authenticity of the allegation. As a sequel to that, a drive was conducted at Baipail area on Saturday (August 20) morning and arrested them.”
The RAB official said, “The arrestees were handed over to Ashulia Police Station.”
