“Name of the variety should be written on rice sack”

Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam has the name of the variety should be written on the sack while bagging the rice at the rice mill. No rice can be sold under the name of 'Miniket Rice.

The secretary said this while addressing reporters after visiting Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) in Gazipur on Wednesday (October 5).

He also said, if anyone tries to disobey it, legal action will be taken against him or her. The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) has recently issued a circular in this regard.

Khandaker Anwarul said, if the varieties developed by the researchers can be reached quickly to the farmers through better coordination with various departments, then our production will be doubled in the next 5/6 years.
