Girl sits on strike at lover’s house demanding for marriage

A 18-year-old gird sat on hunger strike at her lover’s house at Noakhali’s Subarnachar, demanding that he marry her. 

She stayed at the house of his lover Belal Hossain (22) since Saturday (October 15) morning.

Belal Hossain was known as son of Harun of ward no 7 of Mohammadpur union parishad under the upazila.

The incident has created sensation across the area. 

Meanwhile, since the beginning of the hunger strike, the lover and his family members fled the home.

The girl said, “We have been in a relationship for two years. Two months ago, Belal raped me with the promise of marriage. Recently, when my family members came to know about the affairs, I asked Belal for marriage. But Belal, under pressure of his family, is now denying the relationship. A few days ago, he got engaged to another girl. So I was helpless to sit on a hunger strike at my boyfriend’s house.”

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Charjabbar police station Deb Priyo Das said, “Police have been sent to the spot after receiving the information. We have het not received any complaint in this connection. If there is any complaint, the matter will be investigated and legal action will be taken.”
