Three killed as launch hits bridge in Shariatpur

Three people were killed as a passenger launch – Swarnadip –hit a bridge on Jayanti River on its way to Damudya in Shariatpur from Dhaka.

The incident took place early Sunday (October 23) when the water tank on the third floor of the launch collided with the bridge at Saikka in Shariatpur’s Gosairhat upazila. 

The deceased were identified as Tanjil, son of Shah Ali Molla from Gosairhat, Sagar Ali, son of Borhan Ali from Jamalpur and Shakil Ahmed, son of Nazim Uddin from Tangail.

Aslam Shikder, officer in-charge (OC) of Gosairhat police station, confirmed the incident.
