PM to inaugurate several projects at Payra Seaport Oct 27

Several important projects of Payra Seaport are scheduled to inaugurate tomorrow Thursday (October 27). Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will open those projects virtually from her official residence Ganabhaban.

Centering the inauguration ceremony, the Payra seaport area was decorated attractively. Concerned people of the projects said, these development schemes will provide a speed in the economy of the southern region.

Sources said, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the Payra Seaport at Tiakhali union under Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali on November 19 in 2013.

The operational tasks of the project started through unloading of containers from ships for the first time on August 13, 2016.

Payra Port Chairman Rear Admiral Mohammad said, currently the port authority is earning a revenue of Tk 548 crore by clearing 236 sea-going ships. Payra port will add a new dimension to the country's foreign trade if it reaches full capacity.
