No elections in country sans caretaker govt: Fakhrul

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that there will be held no election in the country without a caretaker government. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina must have to resign before the election. If not, she will be removed from power through the movement.

He said this while addressing the chief guest of the party’s divisional mass rally at Cumilla’s town hall grounds on Saturday (November 26).

BNP Secretary General said, “People of the whole country are irritated with the Awami League government. The people of this country do not want you anymore. People are not in peace. After 50 years of independence, we still have to fight for votes. It’s unfortunate.”

Alleging that the government is arresting BNP leaders and activists in connection with the rally, he said, “How could the government stop so many rallies?” The government will not be able to stop the rally in Dhaka. It is not the movement of BNP, but the movement of the people of the country.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam said, “This government has chewed up the reserve. No dollar for import and export for the next three months. Where did so many reserves go?”

The BNP leader said that the prices of daily commodities have increased and people have no income. But Awami League leaders and activists have income. They are earning by extortion. They are making empty the country’s economy by looting.

He also mentioned that the movement cannot be stopped with cases.
