Rape convict arrested after 20 years

Police have arrested a rape-convict 23 years after the crime was committed.

Police arrested Md Kamal Hossain, 50, son of Serajul Haq at Shullokia village under Noakhali sadar upazila, from Bayazid area of Chattogram on Wednesday noon.

He was absconding since a court convicted him of rape and sentenced him life term in jail in 2003.

A gang-rape case was filed against three people including Kamal Hossain on September 10, 2001.

Noakhali Police Super Md Shahidul Islam confirmed the news through a press release on Wednesday night.
