AL leader hacked to death in Brahmanbaria

A local Awami League leader was hacked to death in Tatuakandi village of Salimabadh union under Bancharampur Upazila in Brahmanbaria on Sunday (January 29).

The deceased was known as Oli Mia, 50, son of the late Shahid Mia.

Local sources said there was a dispute between Oli Mia and Iqbal Hossain over establishing supremacy in the village. Iqbal and his cohorts attacked the victim with lethal weapons, leaving him critically injured.

Later, he was taken to upazila health complex where duty doctors declared him dead.

Bancharampur Model police station OC Nur-e-Alam confirmed the matter.
