Auto-rickshaw driver found dead in banana garden

The police have recovered body of a battery-run auto-rickshaw driver from a banana garden in Manohardi upazila of Narsingdi.

The body was recovered with its hands, feet and face tied from a banana garden next to Rathtola road behind Kittibasadi village of Daulatpur union of the upazila on Friday (February 3) noon.

The deceased was known as Panch Moni Das (40), son of late Nirat Moni Das of Kocherchar village of the area.

According to local and family sources, Panch Moni Das left the house with his auto-rickshaw around 11:00 am on Thursday (February 2). Since, there was no trace of him. Several calls were made to the phone he used during the night, but he could not be reached. Today (Friday) around 12:00 pm, the locals spotted his body in the banana garden and informed the police.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Manohardi Police Station Farid Uddin said the body was recovered and sent to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
