Shibpur upazila chairman shot

Some miscreants have allegedly shot upazila chairman in front of his house at Shibpur of Narsingdi early Saturday (February 25).
He was sent to Dhaka in critical condition.
Local residents have expressed their anger over the attack on the veteran leader.
Tense situation has been prevailing in the area since the incident.
Confirming the news, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shibpur Police Station Firoz Talukder said upazila chairman Harun-ur-Rashid left his home today around 5am to perform the morning prayer.
After the prayer, he was returning home from the nearby mosque. The incident happened when he reached in front of his house and three masked men riding a motorcycle fired three rounds of bullets from his behind, leaving him critically injured.
Locals rescued the chairman and took him to the Shibpur Health Complex. Later, he was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, the police official said.
Harun-ur-Rashid was also the former president of the upazila Awami League.
