Bus kills female police member in Magura

A female police member has been killed as a bus rammed a motorcycle in Magura.

The incident took place at Kachundi Bazaar area of Sadar Magura upazila on Sunday (March 19) afternoon.

The deceased was known as Laboni Bhadra (26), wife of police constable Prasenjit Biswas of Dhaneshwargati village of Shalikha upazila of district and daughter of Anil Bhadra of Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. Her husband and four-year-old daughter sustained injuries in the incident.

According to police and relatives, it was learned that the couple was going to Rajbari from Shalikha on a motorcycle after the weekend. When they reached Kachundi Bazaar area of Magura sadar upazila, a bus from the opposite direction hit the motorcycle, leaving the three riders seriously injured. Later they were rescued and taken to Magura 250-bed hospital.

Amar Prasad, doctor of emergency department of the hospital said, “The woman police constable died before being brought to the hospital. Her husband and daughter are currently undergoing treatment in hospital. The child’s leg was broken.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ramnagar Highway Police Station Liaquat Ali, the bus was seized. The deceased’s body has been sent to the hospital for autopsy. Further legal proceedings in this connection are under process.
