Two electrocuted to death in Sylhet

Two construction workers have died from electrocution in Sabujbagh residential area of Sylhet city on Monday (March 20) morning.

The incident took place around 8:30 am.

The deceased were identified as Zahid, 27, a resident of Biyabail area under Zakiganj upazila, and Sadik, 25, of Golghat under Beanibazar upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Shahporan Police Station Sayed Anisur Rahman said the two workers came in contact with a live electric wire while working in an under-construction building in that area around 8:30 am, leaving them injured.

Fellow workers rescued them and took to Osmani Medical College Hospital where the on-duty doctors declared them dead.

The bodies were kept at the hospital’s morgue for autopsy, the OC added.
