2 killed in Mymensingh road accident

Two people were killed and three others injured after a truck hit their auto-rickshaw in Gouripur upazila of Mymensingh district.

The incident took place on the Mymensingh-Netrokona highway at Charpara madrasa area in Sidhla union under the upazila around 11:15pm on Wednesday (March 22).

The deceased were identified as auto-rickshaw driver Humayun, 20, son of Rashid; Rubel Mia, 32, son of Abdus Sattar.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Gouripur police station Mahmudul Islam confirmed the news.

The OC said a truck hit an auto-rickshaw carrying five passengers when it reached Charpara madrasa area in Sidhla union of the upazila around 10:15 pm, leaving Humayun dead on the spot and four others injured.

The injured were taken to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctor declared Rubel Mia dead.

The truck was seized but its driver managed to flee the scene, he said.

Legal steps are under process in this regard, the OC added.
