Girl commits ‘suicide’ by jumping under moving train

A teenage girl killed herself on Saturday morning by jumping in front of a moving train in Kashiani of Gopalganj.

The dead was Munni Khanam, 16, daughter of Pannu Sheikh, a resident of Barobhag area under Alfadanga upazila in Faridpur district.

According to locals, after talks with a youth over mobile phone, the girl jumped in front of a moving train at Beltala Crossing of Khayerhat. She was crushed under the wheels of the train.

Kashiani Police Station Officer-in-Charge Feroz Alam said the girl was going to her sister house at Madinapara of Khayerhat. A Rajshahi-bound Tungipara Express train hit the girl while she was crossing rail line. She died on the spot.
