Five cattle gutted in fire from coil

Five cattle died from fire originating from coil at Sundarganj upazila of Gaibandha. 

The fire broke out at Tarapur union of the upazila in the early hours of Saturday (March 25).

According to locals, the cowshed of Enamul Haque, son of late Ansar Ali of Nizamkhan village, caught fire from coil when he was sleeping. At that time, Enamul Haque started shouting and the neighbors came forward and started extinguishing the fire. At one stage the fire was brought under control but four cows and a goat were burnt to death. Two houses were gutted in the fire.

The victim Enamul Haque said, “Everyone fell asleep after having Sehri. Suddenly I was woken up by a terrible sound and found four cows gutted.”

Chairman of Tarapur Union Parishad Aminul Islam said, “I visited the scene after hearing about the fire and immediately informed the matter to upazila administration. The administration has assured for cooperation.”

Upazila project implementation officer Walif Mondal said, “I have come to know about the fire. Under the Ministry of Relief and Rehabilitation, donations and cash will be supported.”
