Rohingya teen caught trying to get Bangladeshi passport

A Rohingya teenager was detained from the Regional Passport Office in Bagerhat today (March 30) when she was trying to make a Bangladeshi passport using fake name and address.
The detainee is known as Amina Akter Jigar, 15, daughter of Khokon Rahamatullah, a resident of Jadimura camp in Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.
She was apprehended at the local passport office this noon. Later she was handed over to police by the passport officials.
Bagerhat local passport office assistant director AKM Abu Sayeed said the Rohingya was caught when officials suspected her and challenged her documents, which were found to be counterfeit.
Confirming the matter, KM Azizul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bagerhat Model police station said legal steps will be taken in this regard.
