Though price hikes in early Ramadan, now decreasing: Commerce Minister

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that there is some pressure as many people buy more products together in the beginning of Ramadan. Now that pressure has lessened. So, the price of daily necessities in Dhaka city has also started to decrease.

He said this while exchanging views with reporters at his residence on Central Road in the city on a two-day visit to Rangpur on Friday (March 31) afternoon.

The minister said, “Government is working to control prices along with market monitoring to keep commodity prices normal during Ramadan. There is a possibility of reducing the price further.”

About his recent visit to Bhutan, he said, “Hydropower agreement will be signed with Bhutan in May this year. They are interested in strengthening relations with Bangladesh.”

Pointing out that the King of Bhutan will visit Bangladesh, Commerce Minister said, “He has said that he would meet our Prime Minister and discuss various issues.”
