Electricity lights up 4 remote chars in Jamalpur

Around one lakh people have come under electricity coverage under four remote unions in Jamalpur district.
The great initiative to send electricity in remote areas of the area makes lives much easier now. Once upon a time, it was tough to visit the area, but now the four unions of Islampur upazila is totally changed following the lights of electricity.
Sources said that 20,000 people in four unions of Islampur Upazila were brought under electricity facilities at the beginning of 2022. Then, Rural Electrification Board or Palli Bidyut Samiti provided 2,888 connections through 89 kilometer-long two submarine cables under the river Jamuna. The steps made the livelihood in the remote areas.
The number of rural electricity customers in those four unions is now 5,000. More than 50 lakh people are getting direct electricity service there.
Kabir, a farmer in Mandalpara area, said electricity changed our lives here. I bought a fridge after getting electricity connection.
Abdul Mannan, another farmer, said earlier we used to use diesel-powered machine to irrigate our land. Now the cost of Boro farming has reduced due to electric irrigation pumps.
Islampur zonal office of Palli Bidyut Deputy General Manager Md Alibardi Khan Sujan said Palli Bidyut Samiti is always working to serve the customers.
