Logjam of cases put us in worries: Chief Justice

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique said has said that you know the logjam of cases has put us in worries. If the justice seekers do not get justice after visiting the court for long days, they may lose confidence towards the court.

He said this while laying the foundation stone of ‘Naykunj’ restroom for justice aspirants on the Tangail court premises on Wednesday (April 26) afternoon.

The Chief Justice said, “Since 2022, our judges have been working tirelessly. You will be happy to hear that last year (2022) the disposal rate in Tangail was 102 percent. That was more than the number of cases was files. If this trend continues, then Inshallah we will reach a tolerable level.”

He said, “I will tell everyone, including lawyers, lawyers’ assistants, litigants, that you help the court. So that we can bring the cases to bearable level. For long days, we have noticed that the people we provide legal services are confused about where to sit comfortably when they come to court. I (Chief Justice) tell the Prime Minister on the day of swearing-in that you make an arrangement for the litigants to sit in their seats for some time in relief. She allocated us Tk 35 crore.”

Among others, Tangail Senior District and Sessions Judge Sheikh Abdul Ahad, Bangladesh Supreme Court Division Registrar Munshi Md Moshiar Rahman and the registrar of the Appellate Division Mohammad Saifur Rahman, the judge of Tangail Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Mahabubur Rahman, Judge of Tangail Special Judge Court Rafizul Islam, Chief Judicial Magistrate Saud Hasan, Deputy Commissioner Jasim Uddin Haider, Superintendent of Police (SP) Sarkar Mohammad Qaiser, were present there.
