Noman Al Mahmud wins Chattogram-8 by polls

Awami League-nominated candidate Noman Al Mahmud has unofficially won the Chattogram-8 by-polls.

Returning Officer and Chattogram’s regional election official Md Hasanuzzaman declared the results around 8:30 pm on Thursday (April 27).

Noman Al Mahmud got 67,205 votes while his nearest rival, the Bangladesh Islami Front's Sehab Uddin, got 5,087 votes.

The by-election was held in 190 centers from 8am to 4pm. This seat had a total of 5,17,652 voters including 2,63,543 males and 2,54,109 females.

No untoward incidents were reported during the by-polls.

Earlier, the seat became vacant after the death of Awami League MP Moslem Uddin Ahmed on February 6.
