Tk 5.59cr found in Pagla Masjid donation boxes

19 sacks of taka were found at eight donation vaults of the historic Pagla Masjid in Kishoreganj town on Saturday (May 6).
Additional District Magistrate ATM Farhad Chowdhury, who is the president of the donation vaults opening committee, unlocked the iron-made vaults at about 9:30 am.
By opening the vaults, the money was brought out from the vaults and was loaded with 19 sacks.
Later, some people, including madrasa students, counted the money in the presence of the additional district magistrate. The money amounted to Tk 5.59 crore. It was the highest amount of donation in the masjid.
Apart from Taka, foreign currency notes like US dollars and British pound sterlings, and gold jewelry were found in the donation drop boxes.
Earlier, the vaults were opened on January 7, 2023. The money amounted to Tk 4.18 crore.
