Lawmaker leads rally with firearm in hand

The ruling Awami League (AL) and its affiliated bodies staged demonstrations and held rallies on Monday in protest against the death threat given recently to AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by a BNP leader.

Banshkhali upazila unit of Awami League brought out a protest rally where Mustafizur Rahaman Chowdhury, Member of Parliament from Chattogram-16 (Banshkhali) constituency, was seen that he was leading the procession carrying a firearm in his hand.

In a video of the procession posted on Facebook, from an account named Mustafizur Rahman MP, it was seen that Awami League leaders and activists are marching with a banner and the MP is leading it with a pistol. At the time, some policemen are seen making way for the procession.   

Local Awami League leaders said, “He is aware of the fact that the MP does carry his licensed weapon with him all the time”.

The Chattogram-16 MP did not receive phone calls when the correspondent tried to contact him for comments regarding the incident.
