Death threat to PM: BNP leader Chand put on 5-day remand

A court in Rajshahi placed Bangladesh Nationalist Party’s Rajshahi district convener Abu Sayeed Chand on a five-day remand in a case filed on charges of issuing death threat to the prime minister Sheikh Hasina at a public rally.
Rajshahi Judicial Magistrate Court-5 judge Mahbub Alam passed the order on Thursday (May 25).
Confirming the matter, prosecutor Jalal Uddin said police produced him in the court seeking a ten-day remand in the case filed with Puthia Police Station. Later, the court accepted five days of remand.
Earlier, the police arrested Chand at Veripara Intersection under Rajpara Police Station in Rajshahi.
On May 19, Abu Sayeed Chand threatened the prime minister at a public rally of metropolitan and district BNP at Shibpur High School ground in Puthia Upazila of Rajshahi as part of the central program.
