Two children drown in Habiganj

Two minor children drowned in two separate ponds in Bahubal and Chunarughat upazilas of Habiganj district on Friday (May 26) afternoon.

The deceased were identified as Sabbir Ahmed, 10, son of Ijaur Rahman, a resident of Fatehpur village in Bahubal upazila and Tasmia Chowdhury Lamia, 03, daughter of Adil Bakht Chowdhury, a resident of Chatpara village in Chunarughat upazila.

Local people said the incidents occurred yesterday afternoon when Sabbir and Lamia were playing outside their house. Later, family members recovered their floating bodies.

They were whisked off to Chunarughat and Bahubal Upazila health Complex respectively, where the duty doctors declared them dead.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chunarughat Police Station Rashedul Haque and Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Bahubal Model Thana Rakibul Islam Khan confirmed the incidents this morning.
