8 to die for killing BCL leader

A court in Laxmipur has sentenced eight people to death in a case filed for killing Chhatra League leader Mehedi Hasan Jashim in 2013.

Additional District and Sessions Judge Amina Farhin delivered the verdict on Monday (May 29).

Public Prosecutor (PP) of Lakshmipur Judge Court Advocate Jasim Uddin confirmed the matter.

The condemned convicts are Ali Hossain Bachchu, 43; Mostafa, 43; Khokon, 48; Abul Hossain, 68; Mobarak Ullah, 61; Kabir Hossain Ripon, 26; Jafar Ahmed, 61 and Hizbur Rahman Shawpan, 40.

Police have submitted chargesheet against 12 accused in the case. Of them, four died. During the judgement, seven accused were present in the court.

Convict Shawpan is now on the flee.
