Five Rohingyas allegedly abducted in Teknaf

Five Rohingya people including two teenagers have allegedly been kidnapped by miscreants from Alikhali camp in Teknaf. 

The incident took place at Block-D/20 of Alikhali Camp No. 25 of Hnila union of the upazila around 8:00 pm on Friday (June 2).

The abductees were known as Mohammad Yunus (32), son of Nur Hossain, Jahangir Alam (16), son of Samsu Alam, Mohammad Sultan (24), son of Mohammad Rafiq, Abdullah, 16, son of Abdur Rahman and Anwar Islam (18), son of Mohammad Syed. They all are residents of Alikhali Rohingya Camp-25, Block D/22 under Hnila union of Teknaf.

Majhi Nurul Amin of that camp said 12 to 15 armed men kidnapped five Rohingyas from in front of Rahim Ullah’s shop in Block- D/20 on Friday night. All the kidnappers had masks on their faces.

He also said even after a day of the incident, there was no trace of the abductees. The family members of the abductees informed the Alikhali APBn Camp over the abduction.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Model Police Station. Abdul Halim said, “I have not received any news about the abduction in the Rohingya camp. However, the matter is being investigated.”

Police Superintendent Jamal Pasha, deputy commander of 16 Armed Police Battalion (APBn), said, “Inquiries are being made into the abduction of five Rohingyas from Alikhali camp.”

Mentionable, 65 people have been kidnapped in Teknaf in the last eight months. The bodies of three of them have been recovered. The rest returned home with the ransom.
