A total of 360 metric tonnes of onions have arrived in Bangladesh from India through Bhomra land port on 12 trucks.
These onion-laden trucks came from India’s Ghojadanga port around 3:00pm on Tuesday (June 6). Some 60 to 65 more onion trucks are expected to reach the port this evening, said local traders.
Bhomra land port C&F Agent Association General Secretary Maksud Khan confirmed the matter.
Earlier, the government imposed a ban on importing of Indian onions from March 15 to ensure fair price of domestic onions. Then due to the unusual increase in the prices, the Ministry of Agriculture announced to allow the import of onions from Monday (June 5).
