Sylhet BNP expels 43 leaders for life

The BNP has expelled its 43 current and former leaders for life for defying party orders and participating in Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) polls.

The leaders were informed about the expulsion in a letter signed by BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Monday (June 6).

Among them, one mayoral candidate of Juba Dal participated in the election, 38 people contested for the post of councillor of general wards, and four for the position of councillor of reserved wards.

Earlier, the BNP issued separate show-cause notices against the leaders and activists for participating in the upcoming Sylhet City Corporation (CCC) elections, disobeying the party decision. 

The recipients were asked to explain why organizational action will not be taken against them within the next 24 hours.
