No Jinn-ghost in EVMs, says CEC

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal has said that many spoke there were the Jinn and ghost in the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). We found nothing something like that, even after efforts by shaman and different ritual practices.

He further said, “We believe in two systems- Shari’ah and Maa’rifat. Voting in Shariah system goes nowhere. But I can’t say for sure if you vote here in Maa’rifat system, it will go there. Because I don’t know much about Maa’rifat. So in the system of Shari’ah, one cannot vote for another in any way. And if anyone can prove it, I will take responsibility myself.”

The CEC came up with comments while exchanging views with different candidates of Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) elections at Jalalabad Gas Auditorium of Mendibagh in the city on Saturday (June 10).

He said, “We will monitor all polling centres through Close Circuit (CC) cameras. If any voter can’t cast his/her voting right, you will shout. Then, we will take measures.”
