4-tier security measures taken for Sylhet city polls

The Election Commission (EC) and the local administration have beefed up a four-tier foolproof security measures in and around the Sylhet City Corporation (GCC) area for the civic poll scheduled to be held on June 21.

A remarkable number of the police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and different intelligence agencies have been deployed to manage the law and order situation.

In addition, mobile courts, led by executive magistrate, will operate in the area. EC sources said that there will be mobile courts, headed by executive magistrates, in each ward under the city corporation. In addition, 14 judicial magistrates will conduct separate mobile courts in all the 42 wards.

They will discharge their duties during the election for the consecutive five days to avoid any unwanted situation.
