SCC polls: Long queues at voting centers

Polling in Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) elections is going on peacefully. Voter queues started getting long at every center. The polling for Sylhet City Corporation elections started at 8.00 am on Thursday and will continue till 4.00 pm without any break.
In the Sylhet City Corporation elections, the authorities concerned have completed all-out preparations to hold the SCC polls peacefully. Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras have already been installed in each polling centres of the city corporation.
Five tiers of security measures have been taken to hold the SCC elections in a free, fair and credible manner. police, RAB, BGB, Ansar and Armed Police have been deployed as part of security measures.
According to the Sylhet City Corporation sources, there are 42 wards in the city corporation. Elections are being held using EVMs in 190 centers under 42 wards of the city corporation.
The total number of voters in the Sylhet City Corporation is 4,87,753. A total of 8 persons are contesting for the post of mayor, 273 persons for the post of councillor in the General Ward and 87 persons for the post of councillor in the Reserved Ward. There are a total of 1,364 polling booths in 190 centres.
