Traffic movement on Keane Bridge suspended for 2 months

Traffic movement on the nearly century-old Keane Bridge over the Surma River in Sylhet will remain suspended for two months starting Tuesday (July 25) due to renovation work.

A notification signed by Jeeshan Datta, an engineer in the eastern region of the Bangladesh Railway, confirmed the matter on Tuesday (July 25).

According to the notice, Sylhet's historic Keane Bridge is currently in a precarious condition due to uncontrolled traffic. At some places of the bridge, the guard railings, steel trusses were bent due to the impact of the vehicles. At some places the steel sheet has corroded and weakened. So, repair work on the bridge is needed.
