Coal reserve exhausted; Lifting halted from Barapukuria mine

The coal reserve of face no 1113 of Barapukuria coal mine in Parvatipur upazila of Dinajpur has been exhausted, and the coal extraction has been halted.
According to sources, the coal extraction was stopped on Wednesday (August 30) morning from the country’s only productive coal mine in the country.
The coal extraction from face no 1113 was launched on April 25 this years, and about 3,75,000 metric tons of coal were pulled out and those were supplied to Barapukuria 525-megawatt Thermal Power Plant.
It will take nearly two months to go into production, said Barapukuria Coal Mining Company managing director engineer Saiful Islam.
