2 fishermen injured after being shot by pirates die

Two fishermen, who sustained bullet wounds during the attack carried out by pirates in the Meghna river in Noakhali, have passed away.
They breathed their last while undergoing treatment at Sandwip Upazila Health Complex on Thursday (September 28) morning.
The deceased were identified as Abdur Rahman and Ismail, residents of Sandwip Upazila.
Manosh Biswas, duty doctor at the emergency department of Sandwip Upazila Health Complex, confirmed the development to risingbd.
Earlier on Wednesday afternoon, the incident of firing took place following a feud over catching fish in the Meghna river. During the firing, five sustained bullet wounds.
Pirates allegedly abducted five more fishermen during the incident.
Char Jabbar police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Humayun Kabir said the incident of firing occurred over occupying a fishing spot near Sandwip channel in the Meghna river.
