Driver killed as train smashes auto-rickshaw in Tangail

An auto-rickshaw driver was killed after a train smashed his vehicle at Kalihati upazila in Tangail district on Monday (October 2).

The deceased was identified as Azmot Miah, a resident of Deupur Purbopara village in the upazila.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Bangabandhu Bridge (East) Polie Station Md Alamgir Ashraf said a Dhaka-bound train hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in Hatia area at noon while it was crossing the railway line.

The auto-rickshaw got twisted and left the driver dead on the spot.
