Body stuffed in sack found under staircase

Police recovered body of a woman stuffed in a sack from under the staircase of a house in Savar, Dhaka. One person has been detained for questioning over the incident.

The body was found from Rita Villa in Savar’s Bank Colony Aced School-2 area around 8:00 am on Wednesday (May 31).

The deceased was known as Bobita Akhter (35), a resident of Netrakona district. However, her details has not been found immediately.

Police could not reveal detail identities of the person who was detained for interrogating.

Sub-Inspector (SI) of Savar Model Police Station Zahirul Islam said the local residents found the body packed under the staircase of the ground floor of the house in Bank Colony. Being informed, the body was recovered and sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue in the capital for autopsy. It is initially believed that the woman was strangled by wrapping a towel around her neck.

He also said one person has been detained for interrogating over the matter. Details would be revealed later.
