Court proceedings to remain shut for a day

All the court proceedings of the Appellate Division and High Court division of the Supreme Court will remain closed in respect of the late former attorney general and senior lawyer AJ Muhammad Ali.

No hearing will be held after 11:00am at the Appellate and High Court Divisions today (May 5).

Chief Justice Obaidul Hasan disclosed the decision this morning.

He said, "The lawyers will get a chance only to mention their case today. The Appellate Division will sit till 10:30am and the HC till 11am for that purpose."

Earlier on Thursday (May 2), Muhammad Ali breathed his last while receiving treatment at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore.
