Terrible juvenile gangs under influential people 

On May 2, a cocktail explosion took place at a restaurant in Bakulalta area of Rangpur city.  A group of 15 people led by a teenager named Meraj stormed inside the restaurant with sharp weapons and hacked the owner. After investigation, it is known that the group of teenagers make cocktails watching YouTube and create panic in the area.  Moreover, adolescents are committing various crimes like theft and robbery in the area by forming a gang. CCTV footage of the area has already been collected to arrest the attackers. 

Not only this group, there are many juvenile gangs across the country, who get involved in various criminal activities. 

It is alleged that they work under the umbrella of local influential people. They use them for extortion, tender and establishing supremacy.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Habibur Rahman said recently police and other law enforcing agencies have arrested 1000 members of the juvenile gangs.

Analyzing the news items published in the media, fighting, eve-teasing, mugging, extortion, rape and murder in the name of various juvenile gangs have become a common. 

According to sources, the juvenile gang issue has turned into a serious disease in the present society.  Adolescents are getting involved in various terrorist activities because of parents’ separation, family conflict, poverty, negligence of their families, etc.  Due to the slum environment, children and teenagers also easily mix with adult criminals and become drug addicts and criminals.
