MC College gang-rape: Probe report at HC

The report of a joint probe body formed on the gang-rape at MC College in Sylhet has reached the High Court (HC).

The report was submitted to registrar office of HC, according Supreme Court (SC) administration sources on Monday (October 19).

Deputy attorney general of the concern court Nowroz Russell Chowdhury told risingbd that the HC bench of Justice Mujibur Rahman Miah and Justice Mohiuddin Shamim set Tuesday (October 20) to hear on the writ petition over the gang-rape happened at MC College. The report of joint probe body is likely to be submitted to the court tomorrow (Tuesday).

Earlier on September 29, the High Court formed the joint probe committee to investigate into the incident. The joint probe body includes judge of Sylhet Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, Chief Metropolitan Magistrate and Additional Deputy Commissioner. Alongside, the commissioner of police has been asked to provide security and co-operation to the members of the committee during the investigation.

The HC also issued a rule asking authority concern as to why punitive measure should not be taken for its indifference over the gang-rape at MC College.
