Mehjabin phones on 999 after killing father-mother-sister

Police on Saturday (June 19) recovered bodies of a couple and their daughter from Muradpur in Kadamtoli area of the capital.

The deceased were known as Masud Rana, his wife Mousumi Islami and their daughter Jannatul.

It was learned that the couple’s another daughter Mehjabin herself called on 999, the national emergency number, after killing them.

Iftekharul Islam, Deputy Commissioner (Wari Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said this on Saturday afternoon.

He said, “Mehjabin asked police to reach the spot immediately. Otherwise, she threatened to kill her husband and daughter as well. Police then rushed to the spot within a short time.”

DC Iftekharul said, “Mehjabin provided much information over the killing. She will be shown arrest in the case and remanded.”

Meanwhile, sensational information has started to be leaked after Mehjabin was held.

According to relatives and locals, Mehjabin got married first in Keraniganj. She had been arrested in a case filed over her husband murder. She also served jail for five years in the case. Her parents were also sent to jail in the case. Later, she got married Shafiqul Islam Aranya.

Her cousin Shila said, “Mehjabin along with her husband and daughter came to her father’s house on Friday (June 18) night. She raised an allegation that her husband Shafiqul had extra marital affairs with her younger sister Jannatul, who was killed. They locked into altercation over the matter. Besides, Mehjabin off and on puts pressure on her parents to make register lands against her name.”

Police came to know that Mehjabin took sleeping pill while she came to her father’s house. She later mixed the pills with tea and fed them all.

Police also suspects that her husband Shafiqul might be involved in the killing.
