Students hold symbolic funeral procession for 9-point demands

Protesting students held a symbolic funeral procession in Dhaka’s Shahbagh to press home their nine-point demands including safe roads and trials into the killings of two students in road accidents.

They started the procession from Shahbagh intersection on Sunday (December 5) noon and briefly concluded it at Teacher-Student Centre (TSC) in the University of Dhaka in the face of obstruction from police.

Students from different schools and colleges took part in the procession.

The protesters threatened to wage stronger movement across the country if students’ demands are not met.

Issues of safe roads, trials into the killings of two students in road accidents, alleged corruption, looting and mismanagement on the roads, construction of speed breakers in accident-prone areas, banning on operation of unfit and unlicensed vehicles are among the nine-point demands.
