Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque has said all schools, colleges and equivalent educational institutions will remain closed for the next two weeks amid a surge in Covid-19 transmission across the country. Next decision will be taken after two weeks observing the situation.
The minister said this at a special press briefing at the Directorate General of Health Services on Friday (21 January).
“The rate of infections among school-college students has increased. Infection control is now urgent. We have decided to close all educational institutions for two weeks taking a permission of the Prime Minister. The purpose of closing all educational institutions is to reduce the number of infections. So that, students are not infected”, he said.
Not more than a hundred people can take part in religious and social ceremonies and everyone must have a vaccination certificate, he said.
