‘Fertilizer price will be reduced in country if reduced in int’l market’

Agriculture Minister Dr Abdur Razzak said that an increase in the price of urea fertilizer by Tk 6 per kg will not affect the production. The price of fertilizer will be reduced in the country if the price of fertilizer is reduced in the international market.

The minister made the comment while addressing a press conference about the increase in the price of urea fertilizer in the conference room of the Ministry of Agriculture at the Secretariat on Thursday (August 4).

Currently, there is a sufficient stock of all types of fertilizers in the country. At present, there is a stock of 7 lakh 27 thousand tonnes of urea, 3 lakh 19 thousand tonnes of TSP, 6 lakh 34 thousand tonnes of DAP, 2 lakh 10 thousand tonnes of MOP in the country, Razzak said.

He further said, “We are closely monitoring so that no one can create an artificial crisis anywhere in the country by increasing the price of fertilizers. Those concerned will be brought under severe punishment if the price is increased by creating artificial crisis.”
