Home Minister Asaduzzman Khan Kamal has said that the government will not give permission to hold rally anywhere from liable. BNP has been allowed to organize rallies wherever the government thinks suitable.

The Minister said this in replying to a query after inaugurating ‘The Second Sheikh Kamal SAARC Snooker Championship-2022’ at Dhaka Club in the capital on Saturday (November 26) noon.

Asaduzzaman Kamal said it is not possible to hold a massive rally sans Suhrawardi Udyan. Where will they hold such a big gathering? BNP sought permission for holding it in front of the Parliament Bhaban. None is allowed to hold rallies there. There is no obligation for the government in this case. The government gives permission wherever it thinks suitable.”

He further said, “No official permission will yet come that they would hold the rally at Paltan. BNP came to us and talked about three venues.”

In reply to another query, the Minister said, “BNP sought Suhrawardi Udyan as venue. DMP Commissioner also thinks the place suitable for holding rally and granted permission there. Our Awami League has also some party programmes those will come to end. Then, BNP can hold rallies there.”
