Threat to PM: Quader wants speech of responsible leaders of BNP

Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader has expressed his surprise that a leader of BNP had threatened to kill Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a public rally but no responsible leaders of the party has yet spoken about it.

He said this while inaugurating the foundation stone of the Baroyarhat Ramgarh road widening work in the capital’s Sarak Bhaban on Wednesday (May 24).

In reply to a query, Obaidul Quader said, “In Rajshahi, they have threatened to kill the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. There is no reason to think that he is an ordinary person, because he is the head of the district and a member of the party’s central committee. I was surprised that Mirza Fakhrul, the secretary general of BNP, did not utter a single word over the matter.”

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Peter Haas did not take this threat well and condemned it. There, no responsible leader from BNP spoke over the matter. They have not taken any action against him till date and one of their joint secretary has ended his duty mentioning it as ‘Slip of Tongue’.

He said, “It’s not the end here, they are chanting slogan their procession like ‘instrument of 75 roar again once more”. The slogan is being chanted in front of Fakhrul and other senior leaders, one of their leaders had already publicly talked about another August 15 in Rajshahi and I have not heard any word from the BNP in this regard. This proves that what one of their leaders have said from Rajshahi is BNP’s word. They are now talking about 27 points to one point. So, will we understand their one point of killing Sheikh Hasina?

Sending Sheikh Hasina to the graveyard is this their one point demand? We want to hear the speech of their leaders over the matter. No leader of the standing committee has said anything yet. Then surely they are silent on it. They can’t tell themselves. So, they are making other to tell that.”
